Inspired by the idea, I requested an ARC that I found intriguing, not a narrative fiction one but about math and geometry, and that appears to be an excellent choice: Beautiful Geometry by Eli Maor, Princeton University Press.
Non everybody like math and geometry, sciences beautiful to me for their perfect definiteness. “Beautiful Geometry” by Eli Maor wants to show the intrinsic beauty of these studies and of the theoretical construct they are built upon also by using artistic images created for this purpose.
51 the ideas to explain: theorems, relations between numbers and particular numbers, it starts with Euclid and with geometrical theorems to evolve following this science evolution, irrational numbers and so on towards infinity.
Each chapter, concise and containing both a historical hint and the demonstration of the problem solution, is followed by an artistic image providing a different point of view about the mathematical issue provided.
The text is very interesting, surely more advised for the enthusiastic of these disciplines; the structure is well thought and the idea of including works of art bounded to math and geometry is the peculiarity of this book.
Thanks to the publisher for providing me the copy necessary to write this review.
