Augustus is different. Due to a genetic problem he went under various surgical operations to correct the deficit of his face that won’t be like the ones of the “normal” kids.
The novel tells about the 5th grade of Augustus, the first time he goes to school with his peers.

The point of view are different and the plot unfolds following different ones: Augustus, his sister Via and some friends of the two.

It’s an interesting novel and it does not work on pity: the condition of Augustus is unlucky, but the author recall us, using other children voices, that other kind of misfortune exists, more common than the Augustus one like absent parents, a sense of inappropriateness and insecurity sometimes causing mass homologation.

* Wonder by R. J. Palacio ★★★☆☆
