The wind in the willows by Kenneth Grahame

In the wood, near the river, we can meet a group of animals and follow their adventures: Mole, Ratty, Mr. Toad and Mr. Badger.

Mole, a shy creature, meets at the beginning of the book Ratty who becomes his friend, so much Mole decides to live near the river with him. This way Mole has the chance to meet other animals, like Mr. Toad, rich and with a particular love for motor cars (despite his awful driving style), and the solitary Mr Badger.

The book contains sequential stories and it’s very nice since the stories contains a certain irony. A shame the fact I read it in a free edition without illustrations, I recommend reading an illustrated version to become a part of that world.
