Sybel is a magician living on the Eld mountain, surrounded by the forgotten beasts of Eld, legendary animals that her family was able to gather during years and of which she is now the only keeper.
Sybel does not want to interact with the human world, but she will start learning human emotions when she will find herself tend to a newborn child, son of a king, who was entrusted to her.
The novel shows two opposite worlds connected only by Sybel: the Eld animal one, with whom only her is able to speak, and the human one and its three main representative, Maelga, Coren and Tam, who have a destiny bind with the protagonist one.
Men and animals are extremely meditative beings, characteristic that emerges from the dialogues sometimes hermetic but always rich in meaning: the characters prefer to use words than action to defend their reasons and oppose to wrong choices.
The author style suits perfectly this kind of characterization and creates evocative and beautiful descriptions and interesting and never predictable dialogues, moreover each character has is own particular voice: Ter is determined, Gyld impulsive, Cyrin wise and cryptic in his riddles and Tam has the innocence of the young.
A very beautiful novel, engaging and moving, able to tell us Sybel grown by her encounters and the love that men and animals showed her.
