Written production can take different forms: the novel, the novella, the short story, until we have the flash fiction, an extremely short text that contains a tale
The skill the book is about, is to summarize the same content in fewer words, as shows the clever book cover: the same thing can be said in more ways, some more brief than others.
Brevity is a book that aims in helping a wannabe flash fiction writer; each chapter is about a specific genre (poems, diary, letters, lists, …) and provide useful hints about creating the atmosphere and the characters in few lines – or even few words. Chapters are structured with an initial explanation, followed by suggested exercises and a couple of illustrative readings.
It’s an interesting book, useful for who wants to write short fiction, but it also provide a scenario of flash fiction in general.
Thanks to the publisher for providing me the copy necessary to write this review.
