[ARC] The Summer Children (The Collector #3) by Dot Hutchison

Standard

Third installment of the Collector Series, The Summer Children is focused on FBI Agent Mercedes Ramirez who finds herself involved in a case of abused children’s parents murdered.

Night after night children with teddy bears appear at her door, and soon the FBI finds that their parents were murdered by a masked person who defines him/herself as an angel, freeing the children from their abused parents. This main plot relates also with Agent Ramirez past.

The story is quite engaging at first, then it becomes somewhat repetitive while the police is looking for the serial killer. In my opinion the best book of the series is the first one.

Last time we left Murderbot trying to disguise itself when trying to leave the space station (in All system red), and now we meet it again while he travels on a research space ship.

This time it finds also a friend to share the tv series and that will help it during its adventures, and it’s impossible not to love them.

I had good expectation about this book, because The Little Red Wolf was very good.

Unfortunately, The Lost Path, after an intersting beginning that sounds like a fairy tale, loses the grip of the story, and ends up poor in content.

The images are very nice, but the black and white ones do not valorize the author style, and they leave a sensation of something unfinished.

The book focuses on a slice of Claire’s life, a thirty-something nurse, while she tries to find a balance between short relationships, although she strives for a stable, long term one, with the purpose of building a family.

The story takes into account common doubts of 30+ women, and provides a realistic image of the protagonist’s point of vies.
